Nomenclature of Enzymes
April 25th, 2008
There are few enzymes whose names have been established by long usage such as ptyalin, pepsin, trypsin, and erepsin. Apart from these, enzymes are usually named by adding the suffixes to the main part of the name of the substrate upon which they act. Thus amylases act upon starch (amylum), lac- tase acts upon lactose, lipases act upon lipids, maltase acts upon maltose and protesses act upon lipids, maltase acts upon maltose and protesses act upon proteins. There are, however, several enzymes which act upon many substances in different ways. These enzymes are named by their functions rather than substrates. Thus, an enzyme which causes deaminations is called a deaminase and oxidising enzyme an oxidase.
Some enzymes work efficiently only if some other specific substance is present in addition to
substrate. This other substance is known as an “activator” or a “conenzyme”. “Activators” are
usually inorganic ions. They increase the activity of a complete enzyme and may take part in the
formation of the enzyme-substrate complex. Many of the conenzymes are related to vitamins.
This explains why vitamin deficiencies profoundly alter metabolism. Thus, for instance, thiamine,
as thiamine pyrophosphate, functions as a conenzyme in at least 14 enzymes systems.
Conenzymes, like enzymes, are being continuously regenerated in the cells.
Enzymes play a decisive role in the digestion of food as they are responsible for the chemical
changes which the food undergoes during digestion. The chemical changes comprise the
breaking up of the large molecules of carbohydrates, fats and proteins into smaller ones or
conversion of complex substances into simple ones which can be absorbed by the intestines.
They also control the numerous reactions by which these simple substances are utilized in the
body for building up new tissues and producing energy. The enzymes themselves are not
broken down or changed in the process. They remain as powerful at the end of a reaction as
they were at the beginning. Moreover, very small amounts can convert large amounts of
material. They are thus true catalysts.
The process of digestion begins in the mouth. The saliva in the moth, besides helping to
masticate the food, carries an enzyme called ptyalin which begins the chemical action of
digestion. It initiates the catabolism (breakdown) of carbohydrates by converting starches into
simple sugars. This explains the need for thorough mastication of starchy food in the mouth. If
this is not done the ptyalin cannot carry out its functions as it is active in an alkaline, neutral or
slightly acid medium and is inactivated by the highly acid gastric juices in the stomach.
Although enzymatic action starts while food is being chewed, digestion moves into high gear
only when the chewed food has passed the esophagus and reached the stomach. While the
physical action of peristalsis churns and kneads solid food into a semi-solid amorphous mixture
called chyme, this mixture undergoes chemical changes initiated by gastric juices secreted by
the walls of the stomach. These juices include mucus for lubricating the stomach, hydrochloric
acid and gastric juice. The enzyme or active principle of the gastric juice is pepsin. This enzyme
in combination with hydrochloric acid starts the breakdown of proteins into absorbable amino
acids called polypeptides. An additional enzyme, rennin, plays an important role in the stomach
of the infant. It curdles milk and allows the pepsin to work upon it. The gastric juice has no effect
upon starches or fats.
When the chyme leaves the stomach and enters the small intestine through the pylorus - the
lower escape valve, it still contains much food which is in the form of raw material not yet ready
for absorption in the body. Digestion is completed inside the small intestine by several juices.
From liver comes a liquid called bile which converts fat globules into a smooth emulsion.
The pancreas contributes various enzymes which continue the breakdown of proteins, help to
divide starch into sugars and work with bile in digesting fats. The small intestine itself secretes
enzymes from its inner wall to complete the reactions. When all the enzymes have done their
work, the food is digested and rendered fit for absorption by the system.

Foreign Currency Trading is a River of Money - How Forex Rates are Affected by Economics and Politic
April 25th, 2008
There are indicators in every economy of how conditions in that country will affect their money. Domestic employment, imports and exports and changes in the interest rates all effect currency trading.
Interest rates are unique in their relationship with currency. As interest rates increase, foreign investment increases and the basic rules of economics apply to raise the value of the currency. Interest rates adjustments are somewhat predictable in their timing. They follow announcements or regular meetings of the world’s major banking institutions or political economic announcements. Currency trading in turn is related to currency values.
Stability, both politically and economically, is the highly preferred state for investment countries. Terrorism, natural disasters, unemployment, civil unrest tend not to attract foreign currency trading and subsequent value increases in the currency.
We live in such an international world now that events around the world can affect seemingly unrelated currencies, both good and bad. There are indicators, patterns, history and trading experience, which are all used to predict the future. These indicators are used for Forex trading.
The matter of scale must also be figured into the discussion of influences on currency trading. Hourly or daily fluctuations are on one scale. Monthly or yearly patterns may be on a different scale for many Forex trading pairs.
There are many pairings and there are two sides to every trade. This may sound quaint, but it is a reality of the factors that affect the value of currencies. There are natural disasters, overt and covert political moves and daily domestic situations all at play in determining currency rates and foreign trading.
Foreign currency trading is a river of money, controlled by domestic politics, economics, and world events.

The Top Six Ways to Stay Motivated
April 25th, 2008
I receive many emails from people that basically ask the same question: How can I keep myself motivated long term? This seems to be quite a common dilemma for many people so I want to address it because it can be done! Here are my tips for staying motivated:
Get motivated every day.
Zig Ziglar was once confronted about being a “motivational speaker.” The guy said to him, “You guys come and get people hyped up and then you leave and the motivation goes away. It doesn’t last, and then you have to get motivated again.” Zig reminded the gentleman that baths are the same way but we think it is a good idea to take a bath every day!
It is true that motivation doesn’t last.
We have to renew it each and every day. That is okay. It doesn’t make motivation a bad thing. We simply have to realize that if we want to stay motivated over the long term, it is something we will have to apply to ourselves each and every day.
Have a vision for your life.
The root word of motivation is “motive.” The definition of motive is,
“A reason to act.” This is the cognitive or rational side of motivation. It is your vision. You have to have a vision that is big enough to motivate you. If you are making $50,000 a year, it isn’t going to motivate you to set your goal at $52,000 a year. You just won’t get motivated for that because the reward isn’t enough. Maybe $70,000 a year would work for you. Set out a vision and a strategy for getting there. Have a plan and work the plan.
Fuel your passion.
Much of motivation is emotional. I don’t know quite how it works but I do know THAT it works. Emotion is a powerful force in getting us going. Passion is an emotion, so fuel your passion. “Well, I like to work on logic,” you may say. Great, now work on your passion. Set yourself on a course to have a consuming desire for your goal, whatever it is. Do whatever you can to feel the emotion and use it to your advantage!
Work hard enough to get results.
You can build on your motivation by getting results. The harder you work, the more results you will get and the more results you get, the more you will be motivated to get more. These things all build on one another. If you want to lose weight, then lose the first few pounds. When the belt moves to the next notch you will get fired up to get it to the notch beyond that!
Put good materials into your mind.
I can’t say this enough - listen to tapes. I still listen to tapes regularly. I buy tape clubs from other speakers and I learn and grow. Their successes motivate me to get my own successes! Read good books. Read books that teach you new ideas and skills. Read books that tell the stories of successful people. Buy them, read them, and get motivated! Buy great music and listen to it. I just did a spinning class at the club today. Whenever a good song came on I was actually able to get motivated to ride faster! It gets you going and motivates you!
Ride the momentum when it comes.
Sometimes you will just be clicking and sometimes you won’t. That is okay. It is the cycle of life. When you aren’t clicking, plug away. When you are clicking, pour it on because momentum will help you get larger gains in a shorter period of time with less energy. That is the momentum Equation! When you are feeling good about how your work is going, ride the momentum and get as much out of it as you can!
These are the top six ways to stay motivated:
Get motivated every day.
Have a vision for your life.
Fuel your passion.
Work hard enough to get results.
Put good materials into your mind.
Ride the momentum when it comes.
These are simple principles, that when you put them to work regularly, will change your life by keeping you motivated all the time! Get going!

The British Isles Most Excellent Adult Sex Toy Survey for Sexy Couples to Experiment with
April 25th, 2008
So adult sex toy are on the lips of every gentleman these days, either talking about them in the bog, at the skating rink or on the tv. But which adult sex toy is the greatest, with the huge choice to pick from surely a sex toy company had to find out the best one.
A new adult toy site asked over 110 women in February what their very favourite adult sex toy was along with other personal questions.
If you love sex toys you should try out Large Vibrators
It was identified that the most very favourite adult sex toy for women was the vibrator, and they just liked it! Girls were so excited by the idea of a massive vibrator that many of them would use it straight after coming home from work. The best models of vibrator were the Jessica bunny vibrators as they help to stimulate the clitoris hood as well as inserting into the vagina.
The other most popular adult sex toy was the exciting dong. Dongs are similar to vibrators except they don?t have batteries or vibrate. Dongs come in all shapes and sizes from ten inches to twelve inches. They can come with sucker cups to have a tremendous experience hands free and can easily attach to a bath or toilet set. Dongs have been a firm favourite since the 1990s and looks like they will be around for a long time.
So it was decided that the vibrator was the winner and the dildo came in second place, with some many sex toys out there it was difficult to know which type of vibrator was the most exciting for women to try. The classic vibrators are battery powered and shaped like a penis. Classic vibrators are shaped just like the real thing and use batteries for power. They can be manufactured of plastic, vinyl metal or silicone. They can either be inserted or placed against your vagina to get the sensation. We stock a wide range of classic vibrators.
The nicest way to use classic vibrators is to make sure it is nice and fresh before use, make sure it is not too really large for your vagina, and also make sure that you do not use it every Sunday night and you do venture out on a date to the nightclub.
The Godfather (DVD) Review
April 24th, 2008
Winner of three Academy Awards including Best Picture, The Godfather was nominated for an additional eight Oscars. The brainchild of celebrated author Mario Puzo, the film is considered the crowning achievement of Francis Ford Coppola’s directing career. With intriguing depth, it provides audiences with a glimpse into the notorious underworld of warring New York crime families. As a result, The Godfather transformed a number of relatively unknown actors into Hollywood legends, among them being James Caan, Al Pacino, and Robert Duvall (all three of whom were nominated for Best Supporting Actor). In addition, Marlon Brando turns in, arguably, the most memorable performance of his career. Certainly among the top five films of all time, an excellent case could be made that The Godfather is the most perfect movie ever produced…
The film opens as “Don” Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando) hosts his daughter’s wedding, where he actively entertains his friends and business associates. Vito’s favorite son Michael (Al Pacino) has come home from the war (World War II), and he’s determined to do something different with his life, and his ambitious plans don’t include joining the family business. An idealist at heart, the young Michael seduces his girlfriend Kay (Diane Keaton) with inspiring tales of the fine and upstanding things he will do with his life. Through the eyes of Michael, the audience learns of the family’s various business methods and the hierarchy of its system. Vito’s eldest son Sonny (James Caan) is the heir apparent to his father’s empire. Middle son Fredo (John Cazale) performs his part in the business, but few consider him a possible successor. Providing legal council to the family is Tom Hagen (Robert Duvall), a long-time friend of the family who Michael treats as a brother.
Life is good for the Corleone family until the day Vito is approached by an opportunistic newcomer named Virgil “The Turk” Sollozzo (Al Lettieri), an ambitious leader who aspires to become the number one distributor of illegal narcotics in New York. He asks for the Don’s blessing so he can expand his operations. But Vito sees a big difference between the traditional mafia activities of gambling and prostitution and the less-than-noble profession of selling drugs in schoolyards and family neighborhoods. The Don’s preference for placing family above all else creates a direct conflict with the changing landscape of his business world.
When competing crime families are more accommodating to Sollozzo’s business proposal, the enterprise sparks a deadly conflict between the crime families which quickly escalates into all-out war. Despite Vito’s attempts to put an end to the conflict in its early stages, his beloved firstborn, Sonny, becomes the target of gangland assassination. When an attempt is made on Vito’s life, Michael is drawn into the family business despite his reservations, and the overriding theme of “family first” comes to dominant his life in much the same way it’s dominated that of his father…
A dramatic story of family and change, of youthful idealism and the pragmatism of adulthood, The Godfather is the greatest mafia film ever produced, and perhaps as the best drama in all of cinema history. Al Pacino would soon follow up his masterful performance with The Godfather II, and countless other films in the decades since, forever cementing his place among the immortals Hollywood. As such, The Godfather is a film all movie lovers should see at least one. Widely heralded as one of the best written films in existence, it’s a definite “must-see” for any serious cinema aficionado…

Cash Back Credit Cards The Way To Cash In
April 24th, 2008
Cash back credit cards are a fantastic way for you to make some cash, while spending on your credit card, though it does only suit the customers who pay their bill in full at the end of each month.
A cash back credit card will give you the chance to earn as you spend, as a percentage is returned to you on an annual basis for every pound that you have spent. This is usually set at between 0.5% and 2% depending on how generous the credit card lender is and as I have said already and will say again, I cant stress enough at being able to pay off your credit card statement in full each month, is the only way that a cash back credit card will work for you.
If you are a borrower then cash back credit card’s will only cost you, even though you will be earning a little back, you will find that this will be eaten up and more by the interest charges, which are usually on a higher scale of APR.
By not incurring the interest payments, then every pound that you spend on the card will see a little winging it’s way back to you and if you do pay your credit card bill off in full and never have worries about doing so, then why not switch to a cash back credit card, if you don’t already have one, as there are only a few ways in which you can get money from a credit card lender, rather than the many ways in which they abstract cash from us.
There is a word of warning that will come with this though, if you decide that you want to balance transfer a amount from your existing credit card company on to a cash back credit card, then you should try and avoid this, in fact avoid it altogether, as any payments you make to the credit card will only go on to pay the amount transferred and interest will only mount up on any purchases that you have made on the credit card, which will leave you paying back more than the cash back card is making you.
There are a few good deals on the go right now, with the Amex Blue cash back card the Amex Platinum and the First Trust Bank cards worthy at a look if you decide that a cash back credit card is for you.
So if you have a clear statement at the end of each month then go for it and make that bargain in the sales save you even more cash.

China’s Inscrutable Currency Strategy
April 24th, 2008
Purpose: Expose Opportunities for Smart Investors
The move by China’s central bank to drop the yuan’s rigid peg to the dollar on the day of my return after a three-week trip to Asia left a host of questions unanswered. The basket of currencies that will allegedly determine the value of the yuan going forward was not disclosed. What sort of band the currency will be allowed to fluctuate within is not at all clear. The 2% revaluation in the currency on Thursday followed by a slight strengthening on Friday week may actually encourage further short-term speculation since most economists believe the yuan is undervalued by roughly 10% to 20%. With $1 trillion of trade transactions each year and hot money capital inflows equivalent to 5% of its GDP, the uncertainty concerning the Chinese currency is high.
Not In the Mainland
In the near term, this uncertainty gives investors an opportunity to benefit not just from the expected strengthening of the Chinese currency but the overall rise of Asian currencies against the dollar. In early 2005, I advised clients that the Euro’s rise against the dollar was over and that Asian currencies would be the next area to appreciate versus the dollar. It may turn out that many of your best China investment options don’t involve investing in mainland Chinese companies at all.
Direct Currency Approach
The cleanest direct currency play on the expected rise in the yuan (also referred to as the renminbi) is to open a renminbi currency account at Everbank. A leading online bank ranked “Best of the Web” by Forbes, Everbank offers a variety of world currency accounts as well as FDIC backed three and six month CD’s which offer attractive rates.
Direct iShare Approach
Another direct equity China play is through the China iShare (FXI) that tracks the FTSE/Xianhua China 25 index that is comprised of 25 of the largest and most liquid China names. FTSE is a UK based index company and Xianhua is a China based media company.
All of the 25 stocks included in the China iShare are listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Some of them are incorporated in mainland China (H shares) and some of them are incorporated in Hong Kong (red chips). The total market capitalization of the index is $170 billion. The broadest Xinhua China index includes 1,355 listed companies with a total market cap of $550 billion.
To put this in perspective, the average market capitalization for a company in the S&P Global 100 Index is $70 billion. Again, that’s for one company. The China iShare provides good exposure to three key sectors of China: energy (20%), telcom (19%) and industrial (18%). This concentration can be viewed as a plus or a minus depending on your perspective. For example, some smart investors are placing a bigger bet on China’s consumer markets. The top five companies represent 40% of the index. The annual operating expenses of the China iShare are only 0.74% compared to 2% plus for other alternatives out there including actively managed Asia and greater China region funds. Keep in mind that most of these companies are still largely controlled and owned by the Chinese government.
Indirect Approach
The best way to invest in China may be through more indirect vehicles that benefit from Chinese growth and its currency moves. One example of an indirect investment in China is through the Hong Kong iShare (EWH). It has sizable allocations to Hong Kong real estate (33%), utilities (17%) and banking (16%). Having just returned from a trip to Hong Kong, it seems clear to me that real estate markets have a way to go before becoming too pricey. Supply is inflexible and even if prices rise as expected 30% during the next 18 months, price levels will still be about 50% below where they were in 1997. Being the last Asian currency pegged to the dollar should encourage capital inflows. Furthermore, the Hong Kong market has been much more successful than the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges signaling that it will be China’s financial capital for the foreseeable future.
Indirect Currency Play
China’s move last week will also increase pressures for a number of other undervalued Asian currencies to appreciate. To compete with the China export machine, many Asian countries have resisted letting their currencies rise but now they have a bit of room to maneuver. The Malaysian ringgit was released from its peg to the dollar last week and it rose 0.7% the first day. While currency appreciation will somewhat dampen export growth it will also reduce the cost of rising energy import costs and analysts expect the economy to grow 5.5% this year. The easiest way to invest in Malaysia is through the Malaysia iShare (EWM) which tracks a basket of leading companies listed on its exchange. Another attraction - the annual fee for the Malaysia iShare is only 70 basis points.
The Play for the Informed
Malaysia is oftentimes overlooked by investors even though it has progressed quietly but remarkably from a relatively poor producer of raw materials to a bustling and broadly diversified middle income country.
Malaysia, positioned along the strategically important Straits of Malacca , should be on every investors radar screen for the following reasons:
It has little external debt and healthy foreign exchange reserves. In area, it is slightly larger than New Mexico.
Canada?
Another smart indirect China play would be to invest in the Canada iShare (EWC). The Chinese are going on a buying spree investing in Canadian energy companies and recently plunked down $2 billion to build a thousand mile pipeline from Alberta tar sands to port on the west coast and onward to Beijing and Shanghai. The Canada iShare tracks the MSCI Canada Index that has 40% exposure to Canada’s energy and materials sector.
Starbucks?
And what about Starbucks (SBUX) as a China play? Starbucks has about 9,000 stores worldwide and in the first quarter of 2005 its sales were up 27% and revenue exceeded $100 million. It entered the Chinese market in 1999 and has about 300 stores that have performed beyond expectations. The company hopes to expand to 30,000 stores and China is a key part of its expansion strategy. With 250 million Chinese approaching middle-class and millions of new affluent status conscious youth, Starbucks expects that before long China will be its second most important market. During my recent trip to China trip, I visited ten Starbucks stores and all of them had brisk activity with a lot of young Chinese enjoying not only coffee products but the higher margin specialty drinks. Think the Chinese will always prefer tea? Japan shows that when income levels reach certain tipping points, consumer preferences change from tea to coffee. Starbucks always looks expensive but many great companies always are. Starbucks investors have made 43 times their investment in its 1992 IPO and revenue was up 27% in July.
China represents an enormous opportunity for long-term investors but an indirect approach may be the smartest strategy.
Next week: find out what is the next great Asian Bull Market in the 21st century - hint” It’s not China!

A Functional Bargain Hunters Guide on Plasma TV’s
April 23rd, 2008
In the region of about a decade ago the actual idea of a wall-hung television may possibly have appeared like a hope. It was out of the reach of most avid punters, with ridiculously high charges that commanded taking out a 2nd mortgage to acquire these specially smooth televisions. But over time, these amazing TV products reached the level of attainability. Nonetheless, still not something you could just go out & purchase, it has in recent days suddenly become much more of a possibility. Costs for these flat panel High Definition TV sets are currently declining faster than new house prices, and have made the electronics fantasy a reality.
These Days there are 2 competing flat-panel technologies: plasma and LCD. Although each product offers a good picture and these TV sets do deem the same from the front, the equipment on the inside is somewhat different. And thought LCD tellies have been limited to thirty seven inches and smaller, TV sets with the liquid crystal display technology are now in sizes as large as plasma.
However, in spite of that, loads of customers think plasma to supply quite a few of major improvements over LCD tellies. The major advantages is that plasma TV sets generally incorporate deeper black levels-indicating that the blacks are in truth be told black and not no more than just a dark type of gray. This in turn means that the colours are much more stunning & convincing. The most current models from Bush & JVC have in fact taken the black levels to new depths, & as a consequence have offered the finest images we’ve observed to date. For great prices on Tx-32lxd70 LCD televisions, there is only one website you need to visit, and that is Digital Direct.
Irrespective of the gossip that plasma sets “needs to be recharged” after five-thousand hours, nothing can be further from the reality. Today’s flat panel plasma televisions should often last for sixty thousand hours or more, awarding you years of immense television viewing. While there has been a fear over issues such as burn-in (rightly so, as this may possible ruin that expensive plasma television), the most modern televisions feature components to cope with image retention, offering pixel shift techniques that slowly move the whole screen and more decisively, eliminate any ghosting should static pictures truly “stick” the image. This has a white wash mode over and above an opposite mode to do away with all the burn-in.
Four Major Steps Toward Building an Awesome Music Ministry
April 22nd, 2008
The inspiration for this article comes from an Old Testament story. In this story there is a special building project undertaken by Solomon. The four stages explained in this article are the exact same steps illustrated in this story. You will find that these four concepts will dramatically help you in your music ministry. You need to take this information and start creating an overwhelming positive worship experience in your church’s worship service.
This is where we begin - One day as I was reading the Bible I came across and amazing scripture. Solomon’s temple was completed and the priests were ministering and then God’s glory filled the temple. The awe and reverence caused everyone to stop and let God inhabit the worship.
Looking back I realized that there was a lot of hard work and preparation that needed to happen. The nation Israel needed to come together and build the temple. It all started with a vision from David. He desired to build a temple that was worthy for God. But, he could not because he shed too much blood in his lifetime. The torch was past on to his son Solomon.
Then I noticed that there was a distinct pattern regarding the various stages of the project. And the pattern fits no matter what kind of building project you start. I want to show you how it applies to your music ministry.
The metaphor of building a house is appropriate in the fact that it gives you a visual model to help understand how to build your music ministry. And you can apply this basic principle to make vast improvements in the way you minister to the people you serve.
With all this in mind let us look at the four major steps toward building an awesome music ministry.
There are basically four major milestones whenever a building project is undertaken. These four milestones insure the success of the project. You can take these proven principles and apply them to your ministry.
Here are the four major areas..
1) Have a Blueprint to guide your course.
You need to know and understand the final outcome. You need to determine the real purpose and goal for doing what you do. A blueprint will help guide and direct your path. The benefit of doing this is you will be able to predict the outcome with a great deal of accuracy. You will have a roadmap and compass that will guide you though the process. You will be able to make adjustments to the way you are doing things now.
2) Build on a Solid Foundation
Obviously, a solid foundation is perhaps the most important aspect of a building. As a Christian you must stand on a good foundation. You need a relationship with God that is built on truth. And you need to nurture that relationship. A Solid Foundation insures that you get off to a positive start. A weak foundation can only end up in ruin.
3) Build the house using the right tools
Whenever a carpenter, mason, contractor builds a house the success of that project depend on having the right tools to build the house. As someone who uses music to minister to the people you serve, it is important that you have the right tools also. There are several factors that will help improve you presentation and delivery of the message you are responsible to give. You need to be skillful in the things you do. Remember it is God who is working through you. God is not mediocre and neither should you. After all you need to realize that Christ dwell in you. With the right tools you can dramatically improve your ministry.
4) Moving into the house.
When Solomon’s temple was completed and the people began to worship and amazing event took place that is nothing short of phenomenal. God’s glory filled the temple. I truly believe that when God is in the midst of our worship it is nothing short of amazing. I think you will agree with me that when everyone is in the right frame of mind and heading in the same direction, with the blessing of the Lord, nothing is impossible. Include having the Creator inhabit the praises of His people.
What makes this process better is that it is based on solid Biblical principles. These principles have proven to be the best way to start and fulfill the commission. It is illustrated by the awesome task undertaken by Solomon to build the Temple. Scripture further reinforces it. Furthermore, what makes it better is that is simple. Have you ever noticed that the most profound things in life are often rooted is simple easy to understand ideas. I feel that I was blessed to share this information to help build the body of Christ. My vision is to see as many people as possible experience the moment when God’s Glory fills the temple. It gives me goosebumps just thinking about it.
